Service for the Mirage 2000 began in 1984, and the last production aircraft was procured by the Hellenic Air Force in 2007. The Mirage 2000-5F was intended to be an export version, but the French Air Force did not receive enough interest to make it feasible, so existing aircraft were modified. In 1993, it was agreed to update the present aircraft, and work began in 1997, with its first delivery of 2000-5F in 2000. The French Air Force frequently participates in the multi-national air defense drill (NOMAD) inspired by the Belgian Air Force, an annual event at RAF Waddington. The first NOMAD exercise occurred in 1994, in which European Air Forces and non-European Air Forces with squadrons based in Europe participated. France also sent Mirages to participate in 2002's RAF Waddington Airshow, just as they did in other years. The RAF Waddington Airshow is considered by many the greatest in the UK. This die-cast model faithfully recreates the Mirage 2000-5, No. 188-EF, celebrating 100 Years of the SPA 88 Squadron, EC3/11 "Corse" 2017. The 1/72 scale die-cast is 19.68cm long and has a wingspan of 12.7cm.
