The 1974 Bathurst 1000 was won by John Goss and Kevin Bartlett aboard a Ford Falcon XA GT Hardtop. The race, held on October 6, 1974, at the famous Mount Panorama Circuit in New South Wales, was marked by challenging weather conditions, including heavy rain. At the time, it was the longest Bathurst 1000 in history, a record that wouldn’t be broken until 2014.
Goss and Bartlett’s victory was also notable for being the second consecutive win for the Ford Falcon XA GT Hardtop at the Bathurst 1000, with Allan Moffat and Ian Geoghegan winning the previous year.
The race saw fierce competition, but Goss and Bartlett managed to overcome various challenges and treacherous track conditions to secure a memorable and hard-fought victory in the prestigious Australian endurance race.
