In February 1950, Volkswagen's then-CEO Heinrich Nordhoff unveiled a handy transporter called the Type 2.

The Type 2, which combined the suspension of the Beetle with a boxy body, became the second best-selling model after the Beetle.

The Type 2, which began as a commercial vehicle called a delivery van in March 1950,
has continued to add various variation models since then.

This type of pickup truck had a cargo bed behind the driver's seat and featured a high, fully flat cargo bed. Beneath the bed was a locker with a floor area of approximately 2 square meters, which served as a convenient storage space.

The first-generation Type 2, produced from 1950 to 1966, is still a popular model , thanks in part to its two-piece windshield and the wide range of body variations available.
