The An-26 is a small twin-engine multi-purpose transport aircraft developed at the Kiev Machinery Factory (KMZ, present-day ANTK Antonov in Ukraine) in the Soviet Union of Ukraine. It first flew in 1969, and was codenamed "Curl" by NATO. This aircraft was designed as an advanced version of the An-24T freighter, and was equipped with a large ramp that could keep the hatch airtight in order to store large cargo directly from the tail. This ramp made it possible to load cargo directly from the body of a truck, and also made it easier to airdrop supplies. By 1986, 1,398 An-26 aircraft, including derivatives, had been manufactured, and were widely used not only by the military but also as civilian aircraft, and are still in operation in Eastern Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Central and South America.
This model kit from Sova-M includes decals for one version.
