The Kiha 66 and 67 series are general-purpose diesel cars that were introduced in 1975 for trains connecting to the Sanyo Shinkansen, and were mainly used in the Chikuho region.
While undergoing renovation work such as engine replacement, in their later years they were used mainly for the rapid Seaside Liner in the Nagasaki region, with a special blue-based paint scheme.
