This commuter and suburban train was developed by JR East and is used on all DC sections in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

The commuter train E231 series, which was introduced to replace the 103 series on the Joban Line, began commercial operation in 2002. It is

decorated with two color stripes, emerald green and light green, the Joban Line color, and is operated with a maximum of 15 cars.
