True to the heritage and design of the Escort RS Cosworth, the WR8 chassis underneath that iconic shape features a high-performance and fully adjustable 4WD drivetrain and independent double wishbone suspension front and rear. Even the differentials front, rear and center can be adjusted to suit the terrain!
The WR8 means business out on the rally circuit! It all starts with that 3mm thick aluminum chassis with front and rear chassis braces, for a super-solid foundation. Of course it’s fully countersunk underneath to help it glide over jumps and terrain!
To get the power to the ground, the WR8 uses an all-wheel drive system featuring a center differential spinning driveshafts leading to the front and rear differentials. That’s right, THREE differentials, just like a modern RC racing buggy, all of which can be adjusted for your preferred driving style and terrain. Of course, everything in the drivetrain spins on sealed ball bearings to maximize efficiency and keep things running as smooth as that rear wing!

The 1996 Ford Escort RS Cosworth, a homologation special for the World Rally Championship (WRC), was built on a truncated Sierra Cosworth chassis and was available as a road car from 1992 until 1996. Our replica is of the 1996 San Remo Rally, the car went on to come third overall in the championship winning the Rally Indonesia along the way.

That’s why the HPI Racing WR8 FLUX uses double wishbone suspension at all four corners, fitted with real coil-over oil-filled shock absorbers and thick sway bars front and rear, just like real racing cars! Thick main suspension arms are mated to durable uprights fitted with a pair of rubber-sealed ball bearings for performance that matches the legendary Ford Rally Team!
