The Taki 9900 was introduced in 1962 as JNR's first 35-ton gasoline-only freight car. It was characterized by a frameless structure
By 1966, more than 500 cars were manufactured, but after that, it was switched to the expansion of the Taki 35000 type, which simplified the structure of each part.

Along with the Taki 35000, it was active as the main type of gasoline transportation vehicle in the JNR era, but after the privatization of the JNR, it was replaced by the Taki 43000 and Taki 1000, which have a larger load capacity, and all cars will retire by 2008. did

Nippon Oil has owned the Taki 9900 since its appearance in 1962, and it was changed to a new logo mark from around 1990 and was active until around 2000.

Kyodo Oil has owned the Taki 9900 since around 1965, and some of it was active until the latter half of the 1990s. Japan Oil Transportation was the last company to own the Taki 9900, but by 2008 all cars had been scrapped. The handrail around the dome is reproduced with metal.
