The EF65 series 0 was mainly used to pull freight trains.

Many of the same series that were inherited by JR Freight were repainted in white and light blue through renovation work, and were in service until the early 2010s.

Initially, the blue part was two-tone, but some vehicles were later changed to a single blue color.
