The prototype of this aircraft first flew in 1935, later being improved to model E which was more powerful and better armed. The plane came into service as a German fighter plane as one of their backbones for World War 2. By the summer of 1940, they had over 500 of these aircrafts in service in the attack against Great Britain. It had competently fought in Poland and France but met its match in England against the RAF’s Spitfire which proved the superior aircraft.
Built on a lightweight construction principle, it was designed primarily for high-speed flight by Willy Messerschmitt and Robert Lusser. It stands as the most produced aircraft fighter in history.
