Type 12 Surface-to-Ship Missile is a term for Japanese surface-to-water missiles, which are most often mounted on a wheeled chassis from modern times. The system began to be developed in 2012 and became operational three years later (2015). A single projectile of this type weighs 700 kilograms, and has a diameter of 350 millimeters by 5 meters in length. In the basic version, the range of the missile reaches 200 km, but its improved versions are assumed to be capable of hitting targets at a distance of 400 kilometers. Type 12 Surface-to-Ship Missile was developed at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for the needs of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. In its essence, it is a far-reaching development of the Type 88 surface-to-water missile. Compared to its predecessor, it has a significantly improved range, as well as - probably - much better accuracy. The missile also uses an AESA-class radar system, which improves the accuracy of the weapon. It is worth noting that the modernized Type 12 missiles (referred to as Type 17) were placed on Maya destroyers.

Japan has developed anti-ship missiles since 1970. The Type 88 Surface-to-Ship Missile, a truck-mounted anti-ship missile, became operational in 1988. The Type 12 Surface-to-Ship Missile is an upgraded version of the Type 88, and has been developed since 2012. 22 type 12 missiles have been put into service in several areas in Japan so far.

This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
