Like the full-scale ViperJet, the E-flite Viper 64mm EDF delivers fighter-jet looks and performance with low-wing prop-driven airplane handling so more pilots can enjoy flying a jet! It's a scale EDF that flies smoothly and handles like a sport airplane — yet is also capable of incredible top speeds and aerobatics. But what truly sets it apart is how easy it is to hand launch or take off, fly, and land, which makes it the class-leading choice for a wide variety of pilots. No glue or special tools are required for assembly, and you can have it ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery! The lightweight, composite-reinforced EPO airframe is factory-finished in the now iconic Aircraft Studio Design trim scheme. And the seven factory-installed digital servos with ball-link equipped linkages deliver crisp and precise control at every speed. It's also equipped with functional LED navigation and landing lights, along with factory-installed flaps for shorter takeoffs and landings plus improved slow-flight performance. The optional-use landing gear features a steerable nosewheel and shock-absorbing trailing-link struts, or you can remove it — without using any tools — for more speed and vertical performance when flying over grass! Molded-in finger grips make it easier to hand launch, plus the BNF Basic version also offers an automatic Hand Launch Assist Mode to make it one of the easiest to launch models in its class.
Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the skills to assemble, set up, and fly similar class models. And although this Viper is easier to fly than the larger models, it's not a suitable first-ever RC aircraft for new pilots or first-ever EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) jet model for low-time RC pilots. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly simpler EDF models like the E-flite Habu SS (Super Sport) 50mm or 70mm, other similar jet models, or high-performance prop-driven models, before attempting to fly the Viper 64mm EDF.
Are you new to flying RC (Radio Controlled) aircraft? If you are, the Viper 64mm is not a suitable first-ever RC model and we recommend learning to fly with one of our purpose-built trainer aircraft such as the E-flite® Habu STS (Smart Trainer with SAFE) 70mm EDF. It's equipped with exclusive and innovative SAFE technology that makes it possible for almost anyone to learn to fly successfully! The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) Basic version includes almost everything needed to fly (except for a compatible LiPo battery and charger that are sold separately) and is a perfect choice if you're a new RC pilot.
The exclusive Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC provides a variety of real-time power system-related telemetry data including overall battery voltage, current draw, motor RPM, and more – with Smart and non-Smart batteries – via compatible receivers (including the AR631) and Spektrum AirWare™ equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) while you fly. Plus, optional-use motor/thrust reversing can help shorten rollout after landing and offers other special ground handling capabilities (6–7+ channel transmitter required for reversing).
The 11-blade 64mm fan, brushless outrunner motor and 70-amp ESC combine with your 4S 2200mAh 50+C to 3200mAh 30+C LiPo battery to deliver excellent vertical performance and a fantastic speed range with virtually instantaneous throttle response. But what makes the experience truly rewarding is the amazing sound produced by the power system—it's almost like a real turbine engine.
You can install the included fixed landing gear with shock absorbing, trailing-link struts and a steerable nose wheel – without the use of any tools – to taxi, take off from, and land on smooth and short grass surfaces. Or you can leave the landing gear off for more speed and vertical performance plus easy hand launches over and landings on longer grass while utilizing the molded-in finger grips and automatic Hand Launch Assist Mode.
The factory-installed flaps offer improved slow-flight capability and performance while also making it possible to take off and land in shorter distances and at slower speeds. This makes the Viper 64mm a perfect next jet model for those moving up from simpler EDF models.
The Viper design offers incredible handling across a wide speed range and flight envelope. From slower-than-expected landings and low-speed passes to high-speed flybys, the airframe and power system combine to deliver unbelievable performance and aerobatic capability so you can perform giant loops, rolls, knife edge flight, snaps, tumbles, and other maneuvers almost effortlessly.
The lightweight yet durable EPO airframe is composite reinforced for added strength. And the seven factory-installed digital servos with ball-link equipped linkages deliver crisp and precise control at every speed.
No glue is required for assembly, and you can have the Viper ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery! Plus, it's factory-finished in an exclusive and unique, highly-visible trim scheme by Aircraft Studio Design.
